Experience Matters

John Richmond is a proud native of Central Louisiana. He was born in Alexandria, LA and has lived in Natchitoches Parish for more than seven years. John loves everything about Natchitoches Parish from Christmas lights to crawfish boils.

John knows firsthand the struggles and challenges facing our local community. He currently serves as the Director of Public Works where he oversees improvement and maintenance of roads and infrastructure. John understands more than anyone the direct impact that inadequate roads have on people's lives. Daily, he is “boots on, and in the parish” working with local governments, residents, and contractors to begin the restoration of our parish roads, bridges, and infrastructure.

He spent many years of his career in construction as a Vice President for Shaw/CB&I where he oversaw construction projects of up to $1.6 Billion. John also managed road construction projects for Regional Construction, LLC. He holds a degree in Construction Engineering Technology from Louisiana Tech and an MBA from LSU.

He stepped away from the construction industry so that he could more directly serve the Natchitoches community. John is currently serving as Chairman of the Natchitoches Chamber of Commerce and on the Board of the Natchitoches Historic Foundation.

John is committed to not only the growth of Natchitoches Parish but also the preservation of its history and rural culture.  His desire is to bring economic growth and prosperity to our parish while retaining the hardworking culture of it’s past.  He says, “Natchitoches Parish is a great place to live, with great people!  And now it is time to join together to solve the problems of our crumbling parish infrastructure.  These are our problems, and we must address them openly, honestly, and with full transparency as a unified parish.”

John is a successful business owner and entrepreneur. He was awarded Entrepreneur of the Year by the Natchitoches Chamber of Commerce. John owns Maglieaux's Riverfront Restaurant featured on the Travel Channel as well as Louisiana Cooking Magazine. He also owns the Sweet Cane Inn, which has received a five-star customer rating on TripAdvisor and has been profiled by Southern Lady Magazine.

John will bring the same grit and determination that built two successful businesses and a construction career to serving the good people of Natchitoches Parish. In a recent public forum, Richmond said, “From Ashland to Ajax, Vowells Mill to Gorum, and all points in between, Natchitoches Parish deserves leadership that listens to the concerns of its citizens, serves with dignity, and leads with integrity.”

It is time for Natchitoches Parish to stand up, work for change, and vote for John Richmond, Parish President!
